Seven bodies suspected to be victims of Nepal’s devastating floods were recovered from rivers in Uttar Pradesh, a report has claimed.

Indian authorities have recovered seven bodies from rivers flowing from Nepal, with officials believing they could be victims of the devastating flash floods that have killed hundreds and left more than 1,400 people missing, AFP reported on Friday.
The bodies were recovered from rivers in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts, both of which lie near the Nepal border.
The recovery of bodies downstream in India highlights the enormous force of the floodwaters that swept through parts of Nepal earlier this week.
According to the report, four unidentified bodies were recovered in Maharajganj district on Thursday, district magistrate Gaurav Singh Sogarwal was quoted as saying.
“We think they have been swept into India from Nepal following flash floods there,” Sogarwal said.

The bodies were found floating in rivers in the district, which borders Nepal’s flood-hit southern Chitwan region. Authorities were working to establish the identities of those recovered.
Three more bodies were subsequently recovered in neighbouring Kushinagar district, a police official confirmed to AFP. The district is around 70 kilometres (43 miles) downstream from the India-Nepal frontier.
The bodies recovered in both districts had not yet been identified, and authorities were continuing efforts to determine whether they were among those reported missing after the disaster in Nepal.
Seven Bodies Not Included In Nepal-China Toll
According to AFP, at least 472 people had been killed in the floods as of Friday. The figure includes 469 bodies recovered in Nepal and three deaths reported in China.
The seven bodies recovered in India are not included in that toll.

At least 1,400 people are also missing, according to figures cited by AFP. The number includes people who were in the disaster zone for work, trekking and pilgrimage.
The scale of the disaster has also complicated efforts to account for those missing, with floodwaters and debris carrying people and wreckage far downstream.
Rescue Operations Continue Amid Fresh Flood Threat
The body recoveries in India come as rescue teams in Nepal continue to search areas devastated by the flash floods and landslides.
The Associated Press reported that Nepal’s death toll had risen to 469, while helicopters had carried more than 3,000 people to safety.
Rescuers were also working to reach people trapped inside a hydropower tunnel in Rasuwa, where mud and debris have made it difficult to locate the tunnel’s entry and exit points.

Nepal Police spokesperson Abi Narayan Kafle told AP that rescue operations were continuing despite the dangerous conditions, saying, “It hasn’t stopped.”
Authorities were also facing the threat of another surge of water.
Nepal police issued a fresh alert on Friday after receiving information that a dam on the Tibet side had burst, asking security personnel, rescue workers and people involved in relief operations to remain on high alert and move to safe locations if necessary.
Nepali and Chinese authorities separately warned about the risk posed by a barrier lake that formed after the initial disaster and was already overflowing.
The AP reported that Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said the lake was more than 10 kilometres (6 miles) from Gyirong Port and at an elevation of around 2,950 metres (9,680 feet), about 1,000 metres (3,280 feet) above the border crossing.
Authorities warned that the risk of further flooding remains high.
