Nepal Floods Live Updates: Rescue teams in Nepal continued a desperate search on Tuesday for people missing after catastrophic glacial floods struck the Nepal-China border region nearly a week ago. The disaster has killed more than 950 people across Nepal and Tibet and left over 4,400 missing, according to the latest updates.
In Nepal, rescuers are focusing on hydropower sites where hundreds of workers are feared trapped inside tunnels buried by mud and debris. Around 900 workers at 12 hydropower projects are believed to have been affected, with roughly 500 feared trapped inside large tunnels. Four bodies have so far been recovered from the tunnel sites.
Race Against Time
Nepali teams, assisted by Indian and Chinese specialists, are using excavators, controlled blasts and other equipment to clear access routes. Rescue efforts remain difficult because of huge volumes of mud and debris left by the floods.
More than 10,000 people have been rescued so far, while more than 90,000 are estimated to have been affected.
Search Continues For Missing
The situation remains particularly difficult along the Nepal-China border, where major infrastructure has been destroyed and some areas remain hard to access.
Families continue to wait for information about missing relatives, including foreign nationals. South Korean authorities, for instance, said searches for missing Korean nationals had made no meaningful progress despite helicopter and drone operations.
