The Nepali Army on Monday said around 121 people are believed to be trapped inside tunnels at the flood-hit Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project, revising an earlier figure of about 900 people reported unaccounted for at affected hydropower projects.

The Army said about 900 people were initially reported unaccounted for across the affected projects. However, after assessing the situation, it said only around 121 are believed to be inside the tunnels.

The latest figure comes as rescue operations continue at the hydropower projects hit by flooding.

Among those rescued by the Nepali Army are mechanical foreman Sanjay Sah and Lu Haitao, a Chinese national. Two other people were also rescued by the Army.
