CBI has filed a charge sheet against 13 accused in the NEET UG paper leak case in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday. This chargesheet has been filed by the Economic Offenses Wing of CBI. It will be considered on Wednesday in the special fast track court formed to hear the case.
CBI has registered a case in this matter under sections 315(5), 318(4), 61(2), 238, 303(2) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) 2023 and section 13(2) along with 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Apart from this, Section 3, 4, 5 and 11 along with Section 10 of the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 have also been imposed.
13 accused are in judicial custody
All the 13 people who have been made accused in the charge sheet are currently in judicial custody. These include Yash Yadav, Mangilal Biwal, Dinesh Biwal, Vikas Biwal, Shubham Khairnar, Dhananjay Lokhande, Prahlad Kulkarni, Tejas Harshad Kumar, Dr. Manoj Shirure, Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, Manisha Waghmare, Manisha Mandhare and Manisha Sanjay Havildar.
Investigation into the role of NTA officials continues
CBI has said that further investigation in the case is going on and the role of NTA officials is also being investigated. Recently 47 NTA officers have been suspended. The FIR in this case was registered on May 12 on the complaint of a government official.
The paper deal was done for Rs 10 lakh
CBI alleges that Mangilal Biwal had contacted Shubham Khairnar to obtain the NEET question paper for his son Vikas Biwal. Question papers have been recovered from Mangilal’s mobile phone. According to the investigating agency, Mangilal had bought the paper from Yash Yadav for Rs 10 lakh. During interrogation, Vikas Biwal told that he had come in contact with Yash Yadav during coaching in Sikar, Rajasthan.
This is how the entire network worked
It is alleged that Shubham first leaked the paper to Yash, then Yash to Mangilal, after which the paper reached Vikas and Dinesh Biwal. After this a big chain was formed. It is also alleged that Mangilal had further sold the paper to other candidates for Rs 12 lakh. The court had allowed accused Yash Yadav to appear in the NEET UG exam on June 21 and attend his sister’s wedding on June 22 under judicial custody.
