NEET PG 2025: SC Postpones Exam Transparency Hearing To September 26

The Supreme Court has rescheduled the NEET PG 2025 exam transparency process hearing to September 26. Initially set for today, September 23, the hearing will now take place on Friday. Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Viswanathan, who will preside over the matter, had previously questioned the bona fides of some petitioners before deciding to proceed with the case.

Following a directive from the Supreme Court, the NBEMS released the NEET PG answer key for the first time. However, candidates have criticised the format, as it only contained “question IDs” instead of the full questions. Petitions from NEET PG candidates and the United Doctors Front (UDF) raise concerns about transparency in the examination process. The hearing was initially planned for September 12 but was later postponed to September 19 and then to September 23.

Candidates argue that releasing only “question IDs” limits proper verification of their answers and casts doubts on the evaluation process. They have requested the court to instruct NBEMS to implement a more transparent system. Students claim that the limited disclosure is “opaque, unintelligible, and incapable of meaningful verification.”

They assert that the system infringes on their right to a fair admission process under Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution. A petition states that it undermines the purpose of publishing answer keys, which is to enable candidates to cross-check their answers and raise objections.

The legal proceedings have also paused the NEET PG 2025 counselling process for the All India Quota, covering 50% of seats in MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses. However, some states like Gujarat, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu have commenced their state quota counselling registration.

The NEET PG exam is conducted for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses in medical colleges. The NEET PG 2025 results were issued on August 29. To participate in the counselling, candidates must register and select their preferred college and course once the process begins. Afterwards, the seat allotment process will take place, and candidates will need to report to the college with their allotment letter.
