India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra returns to action at the Lausanne Diamond League 2026 in Switzerland on Friday, following his silver-medal-winning campaign at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow
It will be Chopra’s third competitive outing of the 2026 season after the Doha Diamond League and the Commonwealth Games. The 28-year-old returned from a lengthy injury layoff in Doha in June, finishing fourth with a best throw of 85.69m, before winning silver in Glasgow with an effort of 85.83m.
This will be Chopra’s fourth appearance in Lausanne. He won the event in 2022 with 89.08m and retained the title in 2023 with 87.66m before finishing runner-up in 2024 with a best throw of 89.49m.
Chopra is also chasing his first international victory since the NC Classic in July last year.
The Indian will face reigning world champion Keshorn Walcott, Olympic medallists Anderson Peters and Jakub Vadlejch, and Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage, who beat Chopra to Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow.
Pathirage enters the event as the world leader after recording a 92.62m throw at the Rome Diamond League.
