Musk talked about topics like AI, future of work, Starlink, immigration, population and X in the podcast of Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamat.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said in an interview that his partner Shivon Gillis is half Indian at heart. They have named their son ‘Shekhar’ after Nobel-winning astrophysics scientist Subrahmanyam Chandrasekhar.
Musk said that America has benefited a lot from Indian talent. He said that in 10-20 years, AI and robotics will be so developed that it will no longer be necessary for humans to work. Work will be like a hobby for them.
In the same conversation, he also said that America has taken maximum advantage of Indian talent. Musk said this in Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamat’s podcast ‘People by WTF’. This podcast was of 1 hour 54 minutes which was released yesterday.

Question 1: What will be the future of work because of AI and robotics?
answer: My guess is that work will become an option in the coming 10-20 years. If people want, they work, if they don’t want, they don’t. AI will do so much work that most of the needs will be fulfilled by robots and machines themselves. Job will become like a hobby for humans instead of a necessity.
Some people will work because they enjoy it, not to make ends meet. AI and robots are advancing like a tsunami. Within a few years, there will be more goods produced in the world than needed, which means prices will go down.
Question 2: What do you think about Indian talent in America? Especially amid the recent debate over H-1B visas?
answer: India is very important for the world. There is a lot of talent here. America has benefited a lot from Indians. The smartest people at Tesla and SpaceX are Indians. The H-1B program was abused, but it is wrong to end it.
No country can run without border control, but talented immigrants should be welcomed. There was a free-for-all in the Biden administration, which had a negative impact.
America needs top talent and India is the leader in this. In my companies we bring the best people from all over the world. Immigration policy must be kept balanced, illegal immigration must be stopped, but skilled visas must be promoted.
Musk said – No country can run without border control, but talented immigrants should be welcomed.
Question 3: Why did Twitter become X? Was it the right decision?
answer: Twitter had gone into a kind of ideological imbalance. He was promoting leftist ideas, while rightist voices were being suppressed. I tried to make it equal for everyone. The vision of That means the future of X is like an everything app.
Question 4: Do you have many children and from many partners? Do you believe in the traditional family model?
answer: Yes, I believe the traditional family model works and is right for most people. My situation is a little different, but that doesn’t mean the traditional family model is wrong.

answer: (laughs) Oh stop, you’re making me blush! I just work out, but the real cheat code is – never quit. I still work over 100 hours.

Answer: Currency deflation will not work. There is only one way – AI and robotics. This will increase productivity so much that debt will be managed. But this will just be a change, it will not last long. For permanent growth, we will have to move towards universal high income, where AI creates value.
Question 7: What advice would you give to Indian entrepreneurs?
answer: Create value, be consistent. Things are in India’s favor today, but the ability to take risk will also have to be increased. In things like AI, space, we will have to think 10-15 years ahead. Patience wins, so the future belongs to patient people.
Question 8: Your obsession with the letter ‘X’?
answer: ‘X’ is my childhood obsession – since the age of 10. It is a symbol of the unknown and exploration. My companies, SpaceX, X (formerly Twitter), all have this.
