A 45-year-old man from Mumbai’s Borivali area has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an obscene act involving a pet hen and for inappropriate conduct with a neighbour’s minor son.
The accused, identified as Rajendra Rahate, lives alone and keeps several hens as pet at his residence. According to police, a neighbour reported that around 10:30 pm on July 22, he witnessed Rahate behaving inappropriately with a hen in his room.
The neighbour recorded the incident on his mobile phone and lodged a police complaint.
During the course of the investigation, the complainant’s 10-year-old son informed his parents that Rahate shown him pornographic content on his mobile phone on multiple occasions from 2021 and warned him not to speak about it.
Based on the complaint, Rahate was taken in for questioning and later placed under arrest.
Police have booked him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and laws related to animal cruelty.
Officials said further investigation is underway. “The angle of animal cruelty is also being investigated to add more charges against the accused. Committing an unnatural act with any animal leads to cruelty, which is also a violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,” the police official stated.
