The Nifty 50 has largely maintained a positive trend during Diwali’s special Muhurat Trading sessions over the past decade, closing higher in eight out of the last 10 years. However, the gains have generally remained modest, with the benchmark index never rising by more than 1% during this period.
The index recorded its strongest performance in 2022, when it ended the ceremonial session 0.88% higher. Despite the predominantly positive trend, Muhurat Trading has not always translated into significant market gains, as trading activity and volumes are usually relatively low during the one-hour session.
