Government telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Corporation Limited (MTNL) said on Monday (August 18) that his outstanding debt towards banks has increased to Rs 8,659 crore by 31 July 2025. The company revealed this in the information given to the stock exchange. This amount is more than the arrears of Rs 8,584.93 crore on the previous month i.e. 30 June 2025.
According to the company, the total arrears of Rs 8,659 crore include Rs 7,794.34 crore, the principal and the interest of Rs 864.75 crore. In June, the principal was Rs 7,794.34 crore in the outstanding amount, while the interest was Rs 790.59 crore. In this way, the increase in the outstanding amount is mainly due to the increase in the amount of interest.
