The annual awards ceremony of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) was held at the Brilliant Convention Center on Wednesday. In the ceremony, prize money worth more than Rs 2.94 crore was awarded to the male and female cricketers of the state for their excellent performance. Former international cricketer and ICC match referee Javagal Srinath and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia were mainly present in the program. MPCA awards awards every year to players who perform better in different age groups and categories. This time the awards were distributed on the basis of the performance of the players in the last season. A large number of former and present cricketers, MPCA officials and members from the state attended the function. All the players are from MP. These also include senior cricketers, coaches and junior players. Along with BCCI, MPCA also gives prizes. Prize money is given by the board based on the performance of the players and team in BCCI tournaments. Similarly, MPCA also gives incentive amount to the players. The prize money is decided on the basis of team and individual performance. Last season, Madhya Pradesh team was the winner of Cooch Behar Trophy, while the women’s senior team was the runner-up. On the basis of these achievements, Madhya Pradesh also received prize money of about Rs 50 lakh from BCCI. This time a total amount of more than Rs 2.94 crore was provided to the players by MPCA. During the function, players were encouraged by giving them awards. MPCA officials appreciated the performance of the players and expressed hope of taking the cricket of the state to new heights in future also. In the awards, cash amount and silver plaques were given to senior players to junior cricketers. The biggest individual awards include Madhavrao Scindia Lifetime Achievement Award for Prashant Mehta and C.T. Sarwate Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Anand Patel. Both were awarded Rs 5 lakh each and a silver plaque. PM Modi’s lesson: Every 2-3 weeks, ask the team – what did not go well? Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, while referring to a lesson of the Prime Minister, said that every two-three weeks, one should sit with his team and ask what went well and what did not go well. He said that taking honest feedback on our shortcomings and improving them is the way forward. The Prime Minister had asked all the ministers in a cabinet meeting to sit with their team regularly and ask them what went right in the last few weeks and what should be improved. He said, “Brother, just tell me, what went right in the last two-three weeks?” Team members may say that everything is going well. But along with this, it is also important to ask, “What did not go right? What changes should I make? Where did I fall short? ‘Cricket is not a sprint, it is a marathon’. Cricket is not a sprint, but a marathon. Like life, there are ups and downs, difficulties and challenges in cricket too. But if passion and faith in the goal remains, the path to success opens. He said that if there is a flame of passion in the heart and faith in the goal, then players have played their fair share in the history of cricket. Remembering Srinath’s fast and aggressive bowling, he also praised Srinath’s temperament and commitment as an ICC match referee. During the conversation, MPCA President Jyotiraditya Scindia said that when his achievements are discussed at home, he says, ‘Son, you have achieved a lot in a year, but I do not give credit for this to myself alone.’
