In a closely contested Rajasthan local body election, Independent candidate Jagdish Prasad defeated BJP’s Ramsharan by just one vote, winning the Ward No. 6 seat with 151 votes against his rival’s 150, according to IANS.

The razor-thin margin made every ballot decisive, with a single additional vote enough to change the outcome.

Mother Cast Her Vote A Day Before Her Death

Adding an emotional dimension to the result, Jagdish Prasad’s mother died a day after casting her vote in the civic polls.

The timing of her death and her son’s narrow victory has drawn attention among local residents, who have been discussing the coincidence.

One Vote Decides The Ward

The Ward No. 6 contest stood out amid the municipal election results because of its exceptionally close finish. Jagdish Prasad’s 151 votes secured him the seat, while BJP candidate Ramsharan fell just one vote short.

Prasad’s victory as an Independent candidate against a BJP nominee has further added significance to the closely watched local contest.

A Victory Decided By A Single Ballot

The closely fought contest underlined the importance of every vote in a local election. With just one vote separating the two candidates, Jagdish Prasad’s 151 votes were enough to secure the seat, while BJP’s Ramsharan finished with 150 votes.

An Emotional Turn Of Events

The result also carried an emotional significance for Prasad and his family. His mother had cast her vote just a day before her death, making her participation in the election particularly poignant as her son went on to win the seat by the narrowest possible margin.
