After the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) thumping victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, several cases of violence have come to the light with many incidents related to violence and vandalism at TMC offices across different parts of the state.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday issued a stern warning, saying strict action will be taken against those inciting violence and engaging in vandalism in the state.

The CEC has also ordered all District Magistrates (DMs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), and police officials—including the Chief Secretary of West Bengal, the DGP, the Kolkata Police Commissioner, and the DGs of the Central Armed Police Forces—to maintain continuous patrols.

Those inciting violence and engaging in vandalism in West Bengal will be arrested immediately, he said.

The cases of violence that are being linked to BJP workers are slowly increasing in state following assembly election results on Monday, May 4.
