A Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the TET paper leak case has sent four teams to different states to investigate an alleged interstate examination paper leak network.

According to sources, one team has been dispatched to West Bengalwhile the remaining teams are in Bihar, Delhi and Haryana to trace the wider network linked to the case.

Sources said the Thane Police received intelligence about the interstate paper leak racket late on Thursday, June 25. Following the tip-off, officers launched an undercover operation by posing as prospective buyers to expose the accused.

As part of the operation, the police kept the suspects under surveillance for two days and contacted them while pretending to be customers interested in purchasing the leaked question paper.

The undercover officers allegedly offered the accused a hefty sum for the paper. When the suspects arrived to complete the transaction, the police conducted a raid and arrested three accused on the spot.

Police sources said the four accused had travelled from Delhi to Thane for the deal. Three have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the fourth accused.

Rajeev Kumar holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, Akash Kumar has a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree, while the third accused, Dheeraj Kumar, is a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) graduate.

This comes after the TET scheduled for Sunday was postponed after the question paper was allegedly leaked nearly 24 hours before the examination.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Maharashtra State Examination Council announced that the TET 2026 examination, scheduled to be held on June 28 at 1,028 centres across the state, has been postponed to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the examination process.

Around 4.28 lakh aspiring teachers from across Maharashtra were expected to appear for the TET examination on Sunday. The postponement has left lakhs of candidates awaiting a revised examination schedule.
