Luxury watchmaker Jacob & Company has launched its new watch ‘Opera Vanatara Green Camo’ on January 21. This watch is a tribute to Anant Ambani’s wildlife rescue and conservation project Vantara in Gujarat. There is a small miniature of Anant Ambani on the dial of the watch, along with which micro figures of lion and Bengal tiger have been placed. The watch is set with 397 precious stones of 21.98 carats with green camo motif. The price of the watch is said to be around 1.5 million dollars i.e. around Rs 12.5 crore in Indian rupees. ‘Small Vantara’ is built inside the watch. The biggest feature of this watch is its dial, which looks like a theatre. It has intricate hand made figures. In this, Anant Ambani is sitting wearing a blue floral shirt. Next to them are lifelike small sculptures of a lion and a Bengal tiger, which show the ecosystem of Vanatara. According to media reports, it also includes an elephant carved in gold and the name ‘Vantara’. The watch is decorated with green and white diamonds. Green camellias motif has been used in it to give the watch a ‘jungle’ look. A total of 397 gems have been used to decorate this watch, whose total weight is 21.98 carats. It uses demantoid garnets, savorites and green sapphires as well as white diamonds to create that green sparkle. This watch, which also includes musical and rotating machinery, is part of Jacob & Co.’s famous ‘Opera’ collection. It has a music box mechanism, which plays a tune at the press of a button. When the music plays, the entire dial of the watch (with the figures of the pilot, lion and tiger) starts rotating. This technology is considered very complex in the world of watch making. What is ‘Vantara’? The project that inspired this watch is a massive 3,500-acre wildlife rehabilitation center spread within Reliance’s refinery complex in Jamnagar (Gujarat). It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2025. More than 1.5 lakh animals live here. There is also a special hospital for elephants and a 1 lakh square feet wildlife hospital with modern facilities like MRI, CT scan.
