Why Modric Gifted His Ballon d’Or
Explaining his decision, Modric said, “From the very first day I wore this jersey, I felt something truly special: for me, being a player for this club means fulfilling a dream.
“Sharing my Ballon d’Or with our fans, who have shown me incredible support in every match over the past months, is my way of giving something back. Forza Milan!”
The exhibit will feature quotes and images tracing his career, underlining a connection with Milan that, as the club noted, dates back to his childhood.
A Career-Defining Award
Modric clinching the 2018 Ballon d’Or remains an iconic moment in modern football history.
He edged out former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to claim the prize, becoming the first player in over a decade to break the dominance of Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
That year, he led Croatia to the FIFA World Cup final and capped it off with a third consecutive UEFA Champions League title, cementing his place among the greats.
Modric’s Impact at Milan So Far
Now wearing the Rossoneri colours, Modric has quickly become a fan favourite.
Operating at the heart of midfield, he has made over 30 appearances this season, and has been his usual self — controlling the tempo and helping out in any way he can.
