Infosys restricts food menus at its food courts across campuses amid LPG crisis
The impact of the LPG crisis across the nation in India due to the Iran-US war hasn’t left the corporate world untouched and unscathed. With reports coming from all directions on the scarcity of LPG cylinders and black marketeering forcing several restaurants across big cities to shut down their operations and reduce the number of items available on the menus, IT company Infosys has followed the route.
Infosys tells its employees that some food items won’t be available for employees across campuses in Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune. According to Moneycontrol report, Infosys sent an email to its staff saying that the company is dealing with an “impending situation’ related to the availability of LPG, forcing operational adjustments beginning March 12.
As a result, food court operations are being reorganised, with some menu items restricted and live cooking counters temporarily suspended until further notice. These counters typically serve freshly prepared dishes such as dosas and omelettes, but are now being halted as restaurants and commercial establishments move away from food that requires cooking on high gas flames.
The Bengaluru campus’ Development Centre usually sees a daily footfall of around 20,000 employees.
IRCTC Also Announces Changes In Railway Meal Services
A nationwide shortage of LPG cylinders is affecting Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)’s catering operations, leading the railways to consider temporarily halting cooked meal services on trains and offering refunds to passengers who pre-booked meals with their tickets.
IRCTC has directed its catering licensees to implement contingency plans to maintain uninterrupted food services for passengers.
