BJP leader Vinoj P Selvam has criticised the Vijay Thalapathy-led Tamil Nadu government after Embraer and Mahindra identified Nagpur as the potential location for a final assembly line for the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft, arguing that the state is losing out on major industrial opportunities.
In a post on X, Selvam said Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra were actively engaging with industrial groups to drive economic growth, while accusing Tamil Nadu of missing opportunities.
“Losing out on an airport and now an aviation manufacturing factory which would boost the economic status of Hosur!” Selvam said, referring to the proposed C-390 facility and the broader industrial competition between states.
Gujarat, Andra, now Maharashtra all actively engaging with industrial powerhouses for their states growth.Meanwhile tamilnadu suffers because the voters of @TVKVijayHQ s believe CM s cute smile will give them jobs and fill their purposes.
Losing out on an airport and now an aviation manufacturing factory which would boost the economic status of Hosur! This cult is a curse for Tamilnadu.

He further alleged that Tamil Nadu was suffering because of what he described as voters’ political preferences, and said the situation was a “curse for Tamil Nadu”.
What Triggered The BJP Leader’s Reaction?
Embraer and Mahindra said on October 1 that they were working with the Maharashtra government and had identified Nagpur as the potential site for a Final Assembly Line (FAL) for the C-390 Millennium in India.
The proposed facility would support aircraft assembly, systems integration, manufacturing engineering and development of a local aerospace supply chain.
However, the project is not yet a confirmed investment. Embraer has said the facility would be established only if the C-390 is selected by the Government of India for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme and an order is placed. Embraer
Why Is Hosur Being Mentioned?
Selvam’s post specifically referred to Hosur, highlighting the potential economic impact of aviation manufacturing in the region. His comments come amid a wider political debate in Tamil Nadu over the state’s ability to attract and retain large industrial projects as competing states aggressively court investments.
The BJP leader’s post does not establish that Tamil Nadu formally lost the Embraer-Mahindra C-390 project to Maharashtra. Rather, he is using the Nagpur development to criticise the Tamil Nadu government’s handling of industrial investment and its ability to attract major aviation and manufacturing projects.
The distinction is important because Embraer and Mahindra have only identified Nagpur as a potential location, and the final assembly line itself remains contingent on the outcome of the IAF procurement process. Embraer
If the C-390 bid is selected, the proposed Nagpur facility could become part of a broader aerospace manufacturing ecosystem involving aircraft assembly, engineering, supply-chain development, MRO, training and lifecycle support.
