Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Australia on Wednesday after completing his three-day visit to Indonesia. Where Australian PM Anthony Albanese welcomed him at the Government House in Victoria and then he was given a guard of honour.
The formal reception followed high-level engagements between the two leaders, including their joint participation in the Australia-India CEO Forum and the Economic Roadmap Business Reception, where they addressed key business executives, investors and industry representatives from both countries. Where the PM addressed the top industrialists and businessmen of both the countries and shared India’s energy and infrastructure targets. Apart from this, the PM also met former Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison.

–Third India-Australia Issuing a joint statement at the annual summit, Prime Minister Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese strongly condemned terrorism and violent extremism that promotes terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. He stressed that all countries must deal with the threat of terrorism in a comprehensive and sustained manner.
He also called for action against globally banned terrorists and terrorist organizations (including those listed by the UN Security Council’s 1267 Sanctions Committee and their affiliates, proxies, sponsors and funders). Both Prime Ministers recognized the need to enhance cooperation to effectively meet the challenges of combating terrorism. They pledged to explore opportunities to share information and enhance cooperation about terrorist threats in our region. This includes countering radicalization (including online radicalization), violent extremism that promotes terrorism, the use of new and emerging technologies for terrorist purposes, terrorist financing, and threats to critical infrastructure and maritime zones. He reiterated his condemnation of terrorist attacks, including the horrific attacks on Pahalgam and Bondi Beach.
–The two leaders reiterated their shared commitment to an open and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. They stressed the importance of exercising rights and freedoms in accordance with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), including freedom of navigation and overflight. He also stressed that disputes should be resolved peacefully in accordance with international law. They strongly opposed any destabilizing or unilateral action that could alter the status quo and undermine regional peace and stability.

At the same time, after meeting PM Modi, the Australian PM talked to him and also clicked a selfie with him. Sharing a selfie with PM Modi on Instagram, he wrote, ‘Together we are growing our economies and supporting the businesses of Australia and India. The relationships between our people have made many of our business success stories possible. And we will continue to work with business leaders and universities to enhance Australia’s economic ties with India.
He further wrote that our objective is to create employment opportunities in our country and take full advantage of business and investment opportunities in the future.
Following the PM’s address at the CEO Forum, Paul Henry, Senior Principal, Global Director and Co-Founder of Populous, said, “Today was a very successful day and PM Modi has shown his tremendous commitment by attending this event with PM Albanese. This is a very good sign for Australia-India relations. PM Modi’s support for Ahmedabad for the potential Olympics in 2036 and Commonwealth Games in 2030 is very encouraging, which shows that India What a visionary approach we have at this time and we can see tremendous growth going forward. We have been working in India with an office in Delhi for the last 15 years and it is very exciting to see the growth in the field of cricket as well as entertainment.
PM in Australia CEO Forum on Clean Energy and Nuclear Partnership Narendra Modi Vishwanathan, chair of the Australia India Business Council’s ‘Make in India’ focus group, says, ‘The speeches of both the Prime Ministers were excellent, in which emphasis was placed on what was important for both Australia and India. Especially the Prime Minister of India told very clearly what the future directions are. He talked about clean energy and along with nuclear programs, he also talked about renewable energy, in which India and Australia can work together. I was impressed by how each state in India would be able to contribute to Australia’s economic growth through this collaboration across multiple sectors…’
Let us tell you that the Australia-India CEO Forum (which was originally established in 2012 and which was relaunched by Modi and Albanese in 2023) is expected to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation and assist in the implementation of key economic initiatives between the two countries.
