In North Korea’s 2026 elections, Kim Jong Un’s party and allies won 99.93% of the vote and all seats. With 99.99% turnout, deputies for the 15th Assembly were chosen.

Kim Jong Un has secured a sweeping victory in North Korea’s 2026 parliamentary elections. Reports from the Yonhap News Agency, citing state media, indicate that the Workers’ Party of Korea, along with its coalition partners, garnered 99.93 per cent of the votes, claiming every available seat.
As per the official records, 99.93 per cent backed Kim’s party. Authorities said only around 0.0037 per cent of registered voters were unable to cast ballots due to being abroad or at sea, while a negligible 0.00003 per cent reportedly abstained.
Following the results, Pyongyang is set to convene the inaugural session of the new assembly, where decisions regarding the election of state leadership and major constitutional revisions will be made. This legislative gathering comes on the heels of the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, held last month.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports that the assembly will formally address the election of the president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and discuss amendments to the Socialist Constitution. The polls, held on March 15, aimed to select deputies for the 15th Supreme People’s Assembly and saw a turnout of 99.99 per cent.
Among the 687 confirmed deputies is Jo Yong-won, a key aide to Kim, who is expected to become the chairman of the assembly’s standing committee. In contrast, the former chairman, Choe Ryong-hae, was dismissed from his position during the recent party congress and is conspicuously absent from the new parliamentary list.
The newly elected deputies also include Kim’s influential sister, Kim Yo-jong, and Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui. State media described these representatives as political activists selected from the ranks of workers, farmers, and officials to carry out the party’s strategic mission.
