Police allege that Siya and Chetan were in a relationship and conspired to eliminate Ketan, whose marriage to Siya had been fixed for later this year

Chetan has allegedly claimed that he wanted to start a new life with Siya by eloping, but that she insisted on eliminating Ketan.
The investigation into the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn, with the two main accused, Ketan’s fiancée Siya Goyal and her lover Chetan Chaudharynow reportedly blaming each other for the crime.
According to investigators quoted by The Indian Express, both accused have attempted to minimise their own roles during questioning while shifting responsibility onto the other.
Police say the accused have offered conflicting versions of events. Chetan has allegedly claimed that he wanted to start a new life with Siya by eloping, but that she insisted on eliminating Ketan. Siya, in contrast, has told investigators that the murder conspiracy was conceived by Chetan and that he even cried after a failed attempt on Ketan’s life on June 14.

Investigation so far has also revealed that Siya had admitted that a pre-decided signal was part of the plan at Lohagad Fort. Police sources told The Week that Siya claimed she bent down as a signal and that it was Chetan who physically pushed Ketan into the gorge. The two had allegedly agreed on the signal beforehand to execute the plan.
Investigators have alleged that the accused had visited Lohagad earlier, discussed the terrain and identified it as a suitable location for the crime. Police also claim that the pair remained in constant touch for months before the incident, exchanging more than 2,000 calls and spending nearly 238 hours speaking to each other.
FAMILIES BACK CLAIMS
Chetan’s family too has publicly rejected the allegations and claimed he is being framed. His father, Babulal Chaudhary, told the media that Chetan had maintained he was not near Ketan when the incident occurred.
“He clearly told us that he did not push the boy and was standing far away. The girl was the one standing right there when the boy fell,” Babulal said. His uncle Udayram Chaudhary similarly claimed that Chetan was “completely innocent” and had told family members he was being falsely implicated in the case.

The development comes after Pune Rural Police uncovered what they describe as a carefully planned conspiracy that culminated in Ketan’s death at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
Police allege that Siya and Chetan were in a relationship and conspired to eliminate Ketan, whose marriage to Siya had been fixed for later this year. Investigators claim the duo made multiple attempts before the final incident in which Ketan was allegedly pushed into a gorge at the fort.
HOW THE ACCUSED MET
As the probe intensifies, attention has also turned to the backgrounds of the two accused.
Siya comes from a business family in Pune’s Bibwewadi area. In a report published by The Indian Express, neighbours said they were unaware of the allegations against her and expressed shock after learning of her arrest. The report said her family’s residence was found locked and deserted after the arrests. Residents described the family as being involved in business and said they had never heard of any previous disputes involving them.

Earlier investigations had suggested that Siya and Chetan met through business circles. While Siya was running a bakery venture, Chetan’s family was involved in the dry fruits trade. Police believe their acquaintance eventually developed into a relationship.
PROBE REVEALED PLANNING
Investigators have alleged that Lohagad Fort was not chosen at random. According to police, the accused had visited the location earlier and allegedly made more than one attempt before Ketan’s death. Police have also claimed that Ketan’s planned Bali trip with Siya was disrupted after his passport went missing, an aspect that forms part of the broader conspiracy theory being examined by investigators.
According to the police version, He allegedly lured Ketan to Lohagad Fort under the pretext of an outing to celebrate her birthday, while Chetan allegedly reached the location separately. Investigators claim the pair acted together before Ketan fell into the gorge.
