Keralam CM Announcement News Live Updates: As the suspense over Keralam’s Chief Ministerial face drags on, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph on Sunday said the party’s national president, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Leader of Opposition(LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, would soon make an announcement.
Joseph said the next Chief Minister of Keralam would be among the three contenders — K C Venugopal, V D Satheesan and Ramesh Chennithala — who have already been interviewed by the Congress high command.
“Everyone has been asked to refrain from controversial moves,” Joseph said. However, he denied specifying a date for the announcement.
The delay has triggered intense political stir within the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Keralam, with supporters of the top three contenders voicing support for their preferred leaders through protests, posters, and demonstrations in the national capital.
Keralam Assembly Elections 2026
The Congress-led UDF bagged a commanding 102 out of 140 Assembly seats, marking a historic comeback after a decade. The Left Democratic Front, on the other hand, secured just 35 seats.
The UDF rose to power in Keralam, ending a decade-old rule of the LDF. However, the spotlight shifted sharply to the question of announcing the Chief Minister as supporters of the senior leaders intensified their push for the top post.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi held separate and joint meetings on Saturday with AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, and senior leaders Ramesh Chennithala and V D Satheesan, with KPCC president Sunny Joseph also present during the deliberations.
