Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has a poetic response to the claim that a major split is likely within the party and that several of its leaders are ready to jump ship to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a press conference in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, Yadav said: “How long will this story of giving and singing continue? (How long will their ‘benefits and songs’ go on)”, drawing chuckles from the party leaders accompanying him.

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP, he added: “BJP always engineers split in parties by threatening and luring leaders, need a brave team to challenge them”.
“Whoever runs away, will run away after breaking his guts.(Those who get scared will leave their party)”, he said.
His remarks came shortly after Uttar Pradesh Minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief. Om Prakash Rajbhar on Wednesday hinted at a “major split” within the Samajwadi Party.
In a post on ‘X’, Rajbhar claimed that SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav had handed over a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. However, he did not provide details of the alleged conversation between the two leaders.
“A major split is going to happen in the Samajwadi Party. Ram Gopal Yadav has submitted a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji”, he wrote.
There will be a big split in the Samajwadi Party. Ram Gopal Yadav has submitted a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The entire Uttar Pradesh knows who is the mastermind of the mining scam and Gomti River Front scam. If the screws are being tightened then SP is worried.
Leave Maharashtra, Bengal, entire SP, BJP…

“Everyone in Uttar Pradesh knows who the mastermind behind the mining scam and Gomti River Front scam is. As the noose tightens, the SP is getting anxious”, he said.
Invoking the recent split within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction), Rajbhar claimed: “Forget Maharashtra and Bengal— the entire SP is sitting ready to join the BJP.”
Rajbhar, an MLA from the Zahoorabad constituency, serves as the president of the SBSP, an ally of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Uttar Pradesh.
Pertinent to note that Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to undergo Assembly Election next year.
‘Will Work To Bring BJP To Zero’
With preparations intensifying ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence that the party would work to “bring the BJP to a zero” in Gorakhpur.
Gorakhpur is a bastion of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP veteran, Yogi Adityanath. Before securing this Legislative Assembly seat, CM Yogi served as the Member of Parliament for the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat for nearly two years.
“This time we will work to bring the BJP to a zero in Gorakhpur. We have resolved to change the results in Gorakhpur. Very soon the party organisation will decide when to hold party meeting in Gorakhpur”, Yadav said.
