JNVST Class 6 Admission 2026: The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has extended the registration deadline for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) for Class 6 admissions in the 2026 academic year. Students who meet the eligibility criteria can now submit their applications online until August 27, 2025, through the official websites at navodaya.gov.in and cbseitms.rcil.gov.in.
The registration process, which was originally scheduled to close on July 29, was first extended to August 13 and has now been pushed further to give more students an opportunity to apply. The test offers entry into one of the country’s network of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, which provide quality education primarily to children from rural backgrounds.
Eligibility Criteria
As per the official notification, only those students who are born between May 1, 2014, and July 31, 2016 (both dates inclusive) will be eligible to appear for the selection test. Importantly, candidates who have already studied or completed Class 5 in any previous academic session are not allowed to register or sit for the exam.
Documents Required For Application
To complete the application process smoothly, candidates are required to upload several documents, including:
A recent passport-size photograph of the student
Signature of the student and the parent/guardian
Aadhaar details or, in case Aadhaar is not available, a residence certificate issued by a competent government authority
The NVS has said that each Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya can admit a maximum of 80 students in Class 6, provided they qualify in the entrance test and meet the necessary requirements.

Students and parents can follow the steps given below to register for the JNVST Class 6 admissions 2026:
- Visit the official portal: cbseitms.rcil.gov.in.
- Click on the JNVST Class 6 Admission 2026 registration link on the homepage.
- Complete the registration process and create login credentials.
- Fill in the application form with personal, academic, and other required details.
- Upload the necessary documents, including photo and signatures.
- Submit the application and download the confirmation page for future reference.
