Schools across Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed on March 2 and 3 after multiple Pakistani drone intrusion attempts were reported along the Line of Control. The decision was taken as a precaution keeping student safety in view.
The Directorate of School Education Kashmir issued an order delaying the reopening of schools up to Class 8, which were scheduled to resume after winter vacations.
“In the interest of administration and safety of students, it is hereby ordered that all Government and Private Recognised Schools of Kashmir Division shall remain closed on 2nd & 3rd March, 2026,” the order stated.
The move follows an incident early Sunday morning in the Poonch sector, where the Indian Army foiled an attempt by two to three small quadcopters to enter Indian airspace along the LoC. The intrusion occurred between 5:45 am and 6 am. Army personnel carried out counter-drone action, forcing the quadcopters to retreat, officials said.
Security agencies have reported several drone sightings along the Line of Control and the International Border in recent days, leading to heightened surveillance and monitoring by the Army.
