Reliance Jio has shut down its cheapest 1GB daily data prepaid plans. The price of these plans was ₹ 209 and ₹ 249. There were unlimited calling and 100 SMS with 22 days in one and 28 days validity in the other.
Now with a validity of 28 days, a daily data plan starts at ₹ 299. It gets 1.5GB daily data. Prior to Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea have closed cheap plans. Both these companies already charge ₹ 299 for 28 days.
According to reports, Jio has taken this step to increase the user (ARPU) on its average revenue. ARPU is the average amount that a user gives to the telecom company. Jio wants to strengthen the financial health by increasing it. Right now the ARPU of Jio is ₹ 209.
Now what do users have options?
After the withdrawal of the plan of 249 and 209 rupees, Jio no longer has any prepaid plan available with 1GB of daily data. Now the budget-friendly plans present in them:
- 239 rupees: It provides 1.5GB daily data, unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day with 22 days validity. This plan is cheaper than ₹ 249, but validity is 6 days less. If you want a little more data with low validity, it is a good option.
- 189 rupees: It has a total of 2GB data, unlimited calling, 300 SMS with 28 days validity. This plan is for those who use low data and want to mainly keep SIM active for calling and SMS.
- 198 rupees: It has 2GB daily data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day with 14 days validity. This plan gives more data, but validity is low. If you use more data then it is fine.
- 299 rupees: It has 1.5GB daily data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day with 28 days validity. This plan is expensive by ₹ 249, but gives 1.5GB daily data. If you can go slightly above the budget of ₹ 249, then this is a better option.
Users said- now we will port the number in BSNL
Many users are angry with Jio’s move. Some users on social media said that Jio is slowly ending its cheap plans, which is making it difficult for the common people.
One user wrote, “The plan of 249 was perfect for me. Now in 239, less validity or 299 will have to be spent more. Jio should bring back cheap plans.” At the same time, some users say that they are now looking towards operators like BSNL, who are giving cheap plans.
