A 32-year-old man was seriously injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi after jumping into the Pahuj Dam from a height of around 30 feet while attempting a stunt for a social media reel.
Pushpendra Kumar Manouria had gone to the dam with friends on Sunday evening. While they recorded the stunt, he climbed over a safety railing at a viewpoint and jumped into the water.
The jump ended badly when Pushpendra hit a rocky surface below the water. He suffered fractures in both legs and was unable to use them after the fall.
A video of the incident has gone viral. It shows Pushpendra crossing the railing as his friends film him. One of them can be heard saying, “God bless your soul” shortly before he jumps.
Despite his injuries, Pushpendra managed to move through the water using his hands. He then reached a rod and used it to pull himself towards safety. Bystanders later helped him get out.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. Pushpendra was taken to a private hospital, where his family also arrived after being informed, according to a report by India Today.
Doctors operated on one of his legs and inserted two rods because of the severity of the fracture. His other leg is also expected to require surgery.
Pushpendra later said he had attempted similar stunts at several places in the past and believed he could manage the jump. However, he did not know that the water was shallow at the spot where he landed.
He spent some time in the water after the fall before using the rod and help from his friends to get towards the edge.
The incident has since prompted Pushpendra to reconsider such stunts for social media. He said he would not attempt one again.
“I will never perform such a stunt again,” he said.
