Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Saturday claimed it had targeted United States military positions in the region, in retaliation for the fresh American strike over its missile and drone storage facilities as well as coastal radar sites.
In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC said the operation was a response to the latest US attack but did not specify which American military sites had been targeted or provide further operational details.
The US military on Friday carried out strikes against Iran, targeting missile and drone storage facilities as well as coastal radar sites, after Tehran’s alleged attack on a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from US Central Command.
“The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire,” said the US Central Command on X, describing the strikes as “a powerful response to yesterday’s attack on a commercial ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.”
Soon after the US strikes, the official military Spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Ibrahim al-Fiqar, said that Iran’s response to the US strikes will be unprecedented.
Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters is the operational command centre that coordinates the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian army.
In a series of posts on X, Al Fiqar said that Iran will choose the appropriate time and place to reply to the strikes.
“We affirm that this aggression will not go unanswered, and we will choose the appropriate time and place. We warn that any further act of folly will be met with a harsh response that will shatter the illusions of the aggressors in the region. No retreat… Our response will shake the earth to its core, and will erase your military presence as if it never existed,” Al Fiqar said.
“When the three numbers match tonight, the flow will cease and the silence will become a storm. There will be nothing to say, only what will be seen. No summons and no options.. This is an unprecedented night, in which gunpowder will write the final line in your illusions. The response to the US attack will be swift and decisive,” he added.
