US President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that the Strait of Hormuz is “completely open and ready for business and full passage,” while also saying that a naval blockade related to Iran would remain in place until a broader peace deal with Tehran is fully completed.

In the post, Trump wrote, “THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS COMPLETELY OPEN AND READY FOR BUSINESS AND FULL PASSAGE,” adding that the blockade “will remain in full force and effect as it pertains to Iran, only, until such time as our transaction with Iran is 100% complete.”

He further said the process “should go very quickly,” adding that “most of the points are already negotiated,” though he did not provide details of any formal agreement or framework being referenced.

In a separate post, the US President wrote, “Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again. It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World!”

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, carrying a significant share of global oil and gas shipments. Any disruption or restriction in the waterway is closely watched by global markets due to its direct impact on energy prices, shipping costs and supply chains.

The remarks come after Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi earlier said that commercial passage through the Strait of Hormuz had been reopened for the duration of the Lebanon ceasefire, describing it as part of coordinated maritime arrangements announced by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organisation.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Araghchi said, “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The developments follow Trump’s earlier announcement that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire aimed at reducing cross-border hostilities. In a later post on Truth Social, Trump urged restraint, saying, “I hope Hezbollah acts nicely and well during this important period of time.”
