Are natural disasters or murders covered? Answer: As per the scheme, ‘accident’ means any sudden, unexpected and incident caused by external or visible causes. Question 3: Who can join this scheme and what is the age limit? Answer: All individual (single or joint) savings account holders of the bank or post office in the age group of 18 to 70 years are eligible for this scheme. Even if a person has accounts in more than one bank, he can join the scheme through only one bank account. In case of joint account, all the account holders can avail the benefit of this scheme by paying their separate premium of ₹20. Question 4: How is the premium paid and how long does the insurance cover last? Answer: Premium is paid once a year through ‘Auto-Debit’ facility from bank or post office account.
