CDS Chauhan’s remarks clarified the concerns raised by the Congress, which had accused the Centre of providing advance information to Pakistan about Operation Sindoor.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Tuesday shared details of Operation Sindoor, stating that India had notified Pakistan five minutes after conducting strikes on their terror camps.
Notably, General Chauhan’s remarks clarified the concerns raised by the Congress, which had accused the Centre of committing a “crime” by allegedly providing advance information to Pakistan about Operation Sindoor.
“We had informed Pakistan on the day we launched the strikes (May 7). We did the strike between 1 am and 1.30 am. After five minutes of concluding the operations, we called Pakistan to say we had done this,” said General Chahuhan while delivering a special lecture on ‘Future Wars and Warfare’ organised by Savitribai Phule Pune University.
General Chauhan further said that the Indian Armed Forces acted with “a lot of rationality” during cross-border strikes, carefully targeting only terror camps and avoiding civilian areas or military establishments.
“We also informed their Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) that our strikes targeted only terror sites, excluded military establishments, and ensured no collateral damage, especially to civilians,” said General Chauhan.
Congress Questions Govt
Last month, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the government for allegedly alerting Pakistan in advance about the strikes on terror infrastructure during Operation Sindoor.
Terming it a “crime,” he asked, “Who authorised it?”
In a post on X, the Lok Sabha opposition leader targeted External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for openly admitting that the government had informed Pakistan prior to the operation.
“Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that GOI did it,” Gandhi wrote on X.
He further enquired, “Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our air force lose as a result?”

‘Historic Achievement’
General Chauhan described Operation Sindoor as a historic achievement in air warfare, highlighting the successful, precise, and relentless operations carried out deep inside enemy territory that penetrated air defence networks.
“Operation Sindoor created history as far as air warfare is concerned. Successful operations were carried out against an adversary. We carried out relentless operations deep inside with precision and offensive intent. It was a big achievement and we were able to penetrate those air defence networks,” he said.
