Booking, check-in advice after some time
Indigo asked passengers to use the digital channel again after some time. IndiGo said that customers who need immediate travel related assistance should contact the customer support helpline. Customers whose journey is later should try after some time.
Impact on booking, check-in and payment services
On Friday, many users complained on Indigo’s X account. These included flight booking failure, problem in web check-in and not receiving payment confirmation. The glitch came to light two days after IndiGo acknowledged a problem with its main reservations platform.
The airline had also told Express on Wednesday that it was experiencing intermittent problems in its reservation system. Indigo had said that due to this some customers may face difficulty in using online services.
The airline also said that it is working with its technology partner to fix the problem, but did not provide further details about the cause of the glitch.
Due to these recurring problems, passengers booking tickets online or managing flights may face further problems.
Indigo has 67% share in the country’s airline market.
IndiGo is India’s largest airline in terms of domestic market share. In July, its share in the country’s domestic aviation market was about 67%.
The airline network is quite large. Therefore, any disruption in its digital systems may impact a large number of passengers booking tickets, checking-in or managing existing reservations.
This incident comes at a time when IndiGo has been scrutinized and criticized in the past for operational issues.
About 4,500 flights were canceled in December
In December, around 4,500 IndiGo flights were canceled following problems related to pilot roster planning. This raised a lot of questions on the airline. Thousands of passengers were stranded due to this glitch and air travel across India was significantly affected. After this, the regulatory bodies investigated the matter and took action against the airline regarding the cancellation of flights.
Friday’s website glitch is not directly related to December’s operational crisis. However, after the new problem, attention has again been paid to the reliability of IndiGo’s technology and reservation system. IndiGo handles the bulk of India’s domestic air traffic. At present it is not clear how long Friday’s disturbance will last and what is its reason.
Indigo, the country’s largest airline
