An IndiGo aircraft operating flight 6E925 from Patna to Lucknow was found to have sustained damage to its nose section after landing at Lucknow airport on Wednesday. All 104 passengers on board were safe, officials said.

The aircraft landed normally at around 4pm and there were no reports of injuries. The damage was noticed by the airport team after landing, following which IndiGo was informed and the aircraft was declared Aircraft on Ground (AOG).

Lightning possibility being examined

The airport official said the possibility of the aircraft encountering lightning during adverse weather conditions was being examined as part of the preliminary assessment.

The aircraft had earlier been reported to have possibly encountered lightning during the flight. However, officials have not yet confirmed that lightning caused the damage.

“Further technical details will be shared by the airline after the completion of its investigation,” a source said.

No emergency landing

The incident did not involve an emergency landing, according to the source. The aircraft completed its journey and landed normally at Lucknow airport.

The aircraft has been grounded for the technical inspection and will undergo further checks before being cleared for operations.

IndiGo is expected to provide additional details after its investigation is completed.
