British-Indian YouTuber Arun Rupesh Maini, popularly known as MrWhoseTheBoss, has revealed that he was once detained, strip-searched and deported by US border authorities during a work trip to the United States.
Maini, who runs one of the world’s biggest tech YouTube channels, said the incident took place several years ago but continues to affect how he feels about travelling to the US.
Speaking about the ordeal, the London-based creator said he was held by officials from US Customs and Border Protection for nearly 26 hours.
“They took me into a cell,” Maini said while describing the experience, calling the treatment “inhuman.”
According to Maini, he was travelling to the US for work-related purposes when he was stopped by immigration authorities, questioned extensively and eventually deported back to the United Kingdom. He alleged that he was strip-searched and denied access to contact friends or family during detention.
The YouTuber’s account triggered strong reactions online, with many social media users expressing support and raising concerns over the treatment of travellers by US border officials.
Maini has not indicated that he plans legal action, but said the experience left a lasting psychological impact on him.
Known for his smartphone and gadget reviews, Maini has millions of subscribers across platforms and is among the most prominent tech creators globally.
