Imran Khan’s son Kasim has hinted that a possible deal could be discussed for the jailed former Pakistan prime minister’s release.

A possible deal between jailed former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and the government has come into focus after his son, Kasim Khan, suggested that authorities may have offered his father an arrangement that could lead to his release.
Speaking in a recent interview with CBC News, Kasim said he would personally want his father to accept any deal that could bring him out of prison. However, he acknowledged that he does not have a complete picture of the situation in Pakistan and has not spoken to his father for more than seven months, Bloomberg reported on his remarks, citing CBC News.
“From a selfish perspective, I would love him to take that deal,” Kasim said, while discussing his hopes of seeing his father again.
It remains unclear whether the Pakistan government has actually made such an offer. Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar did not immediately respond to Bloomberg’s request for comment.
Why Kasim Thinks Imran May Reject A Deal
Kasim said he did not expect his father to agree to an arrangement that would secure his personal release while other political prisoners remained behind bars.
He said several members of the family were also in custody, making it difficult for Imran Khan to accept a deal solely for his own freedom.
Kasim also said he wanted to speak to his father, pointing to a Supreme Court order that he said allowed communication between them. He alleged that several court directions concerning his father had not been followed.
Imran Khan’s Health And Prison Conditions
The comments come amid continuing concerns from Khan’s family and supporters over his health and conditions in prison.
Khan has been incarcerated at Adiala Jail since 2023 after being convicted in several cases. In August, Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered that he be moved to a private hospital for treatment, although he was later returned to prison after a brief hospital stay.
His sons have also raised concerns about his health and prolonged isolation. Pakistan authorities, however, have denied allegations that Khan is being mistreated.
PTI Protest And Family Detentions
The comments also come against the backdrop of heightened political tensions surrounding Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
PTI had planned a nationwide protest demanding Khan’s release, while several members of his family were detained ahead of the planned mobilisation. His three sisters were detained under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order law.
Kasim has previously urged PTI supporters to avoid gathering near Adiala Jail, amid concerns over the safety of his father.
