A 28-year-old man allegedly told AC repair workers “I’m depressed” before jumping from the 41st floor of Noida’s Supernova building.

A 28-year-old man allegedly told a team of AC repair workers that he was depressed shortly before jumping from the balcony of an apartment in Noida’s Supernova building on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Sambhav Jain, son of Vinay Kumar Jain and a resident of Tower A, IMT View CGHS in Manesar, Gurugram. According to the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate, Jain had arrived alone at the Spire Building in Sector 94 for a one-day stay.

‘I’m Depressed’: What Happened

The incident took place on Saturday morning under the jurisdiction of Sector 126 police station. According to police, Jain was hanging from the railing of the balcony when a team of AC repair workers working in a nearby flat noticed him.

The workers reportedly tried to speak to him and persuade him to step back from the railing. During the interaction, Jain allegedly told them, “I’m depressed.” He then jumped from the balcony, resulting in his death.

A video purportedly showing the incident also surfaced online. In the footage, Jain can be seen hanging from the balcony railing, before falling from the building moments later.

Police Begin Investigation

After receiving information about the incident, a police team from Sector 126 reached the spot and gathered details. Police said inquest proceedings have been completed and the postmortem process is underway.

Police officials and a Forensic Science Laboratory team inspected the scene and collected evidence. CCTV footage from cameras at the building and surrounding areas is also being examined as part of the investigation.

Video Goes Viral

A video of the incident also surfaced on social media. The footage shows Jain hanging from the balcony railing as people can be heard reacting from below. Moments later, he falls from the building. The video has since circulated widely online.

Family Informed

Police said they questioned people who were present near the building at the time of the incident. During the questioning, investigators learnt that Jain was under mental stress.

His family has been informed about the incident. Police said all aspects of the case are being investigated and further legal action will be taken as per the rules.
