An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) student melted hearts online after surprising his father with a brand-new phone, in a touching full-circle moment that celebrated years of quiet sacrifices and unconditional support.
Abhinandan Gaikwad, a student at IIT BHU, Varanasi, shared the wholesome video on his Instagram account, documenting the emotional surprise as he fulfilled a small wish for the man who, according to him, had never once said no to his own dreams.
In the clip, Abhinandan was first seen stepping into a mobile store, carefully browsing through different phones and checking out their specifications before finally settling on one to buy. The video then transitioned to a much more emotional moment at home.
His father was seen sitting casually in front of him, unaware of what was coming, as Abhinandan walked up and placed a brown shopping bag before him. Looking slightly puzzled, the father slowly took out the neatly gift-wrapped box and began unwrapping it. The moment he realised it was a brand-new phone, his expression softened into a wide, genuine smile.
As he carefully unboxed the device, his happiness only seemed to grow. Still smiling, he finally looked up at his son, which was a heartwarming exchange that said more than words could.
Sharing the reason behind the gift, Abhinandan recalled how his father had always fulfilled his wishes without hesitation, even during financially difficult times.
In the caption, he wrote that after his Class 10 board results in 2021, he had asked his father for a phone and received it “without a second thought.” Later, during his first year of college, he asked for an iPhone 14, and once again, his father made it happen.
Reflecting on the gesture, he wrote, “He never said no to my wishes, even when I knew it wasn’t easy for him. Now it’s my turn The man who gave me everything deserves the world.”
