If your basic salary is Rs 25 thousand or less then the company will have to deposit your PF. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday increased the basic salary limit for PF from ₹ 15 thousand to ₹ 25 thousand.

This limit applies to salary and DA, not the entire CTC or gross salary. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that due to this decision of the government, 51 lakh employees will get the benefit of PF savings and pension. At present 7.89 crore people in the country come under the ambit of PF.

Just before the festival and wedding season, Bureau of Indian Standards i.e. BIS has increased the hallmarking fees on gold jewelery and artwork. Now jewelers will have to pay ₹75 per article instead of ₹45.

This change has come into effect under the BIS (Hallmarking) Amendment Rules, 2026. However, this fee increase does not at all mean that customers will have to pay an additional fee of ₹ 30 on every gold jewellery.
