A hearing will be held today in the Supreme Court against Mamata for obstructing the I-PAC raid case in Kolkata. This petition has been filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). In fact, on January 8, ED had raided the house and office of TMC’s IT head and Political Consultant Firm (I-PAC) director Prateek Jain.
During this, Mamta Banerjee reached the office during the raid and took some files with her. The investigating agency alleges that Mamta created obstacles during the raid. Evidence was tampered, important documents were snatched and ED officials were threatened.
ED demands that all electronic records, storage media and documents taken illegally and forcibly should be confiscated and sealed. A day earlier, TMC’s petition was rejected in the Calcutta High Court. TMC had accused ED of seizing the documents, although ED refused on record.
Mamta had reached the house of I-PAC director Prateek Jain in the middle of the raid on January 8.
ED’s petition in Supreme Court, allegations of robbery and theft
In the petition, ED has accused the Chief Minister and top police officials of committing 17 crimes. These include charges like dacoity, robbery and theft along with serious charges like obstructing officials engaged in government work, hiding or destroying evidence and making threats.

- This incident is a blatant insult to the Constitution and the rule of law. The seized evidence had no connection with the activities of any political party, but were only related to the illegal coal mining scam.
- CM and police officers reached the spot and threatened the ED officers. The ongoing search at Prateek Jain’s residence and I-PAC office was not allowed to proceed.
- After the search, several FIRs were lodged against its officials, the purpose of which was to weaken the investigation and intimidate the officials. The investigation of all these FIRs should be handed over to CBI.
- Our efforts to get relief from the Calcutta High Court were not successful. The case was postponed due to alleged uproar in the court. This ruckus was created by calling the supporters of the ruling party through WhatsApp groups, so that the hearing could not be held in the court.
- The Supreme Court should intervene to ensure a free and fair investigation, preserve the evidence and send a message that no person holding any political office is above the law.
Bengal government said- our side should also be heard
The Bengal government had filed a caveat in the Supreme Court on January 10. The government demands that no order should be passed without hearing his side. A bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Vipul M Pancholi will hear the case.

January 8: ED raid on the premises of TMC IT head
On January 8, the ED team had raided Prateek Jain’s house at Gulaudan Street in Kolkata and the other team had raided the office at Salt Lake. It is Prateek Jain who prepares the political strategy for Mamata Banerjee.
The action started at 6 am, but the matter escalated after around 11:30 am. First of all, Kolkata Police Commissioner reached Prateek’s residence. After some time, CM Mamata Banerjee herself reached his house on Loudon Street.
Mamta stayed there for some time. When she came out, she saw a green file in her hand. After this she also went to I-PAC office. He said- Home Minister is getting the documents of my party collected. ED said that raids were conducted at 6 locations in West Bengal and 4 locations in Delhi.
9 January: Mamata Banerjee took out a march in Kokata
On January 9, TMC workers protested from Delhi to Kolkata. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also lodged two FIRs against ED. They also took out a march in Kolkata.
During this, Mamata Banerjee claimed that she had pen drives against Home Minister Amit Shah. He said- Coal scam money reaches senior BJP leaders in Delhi. I have proof of this. If needed, I can present them to the public.
Hundreds of TMC workers had joined the march along with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
CM had said- Coal scam money was sent to Shah
During the march on January 9, Mamata has alleged that the coal scam money was used by Suvendu Adhikari and sent to Amit Shah. She had said that I don’t usually react, but if someone teases me, I don’t leave.
On this, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari sent a defamation notice to Banerjee. In the notice, he was demanded to present all the evidence related to the alleged allegations within 72 hours.
