Hyderabadi startup creates India’s fastest interceptor drone: Achieves speed of 498 Kmph, recorded in India Book of Records

Hyderabad-based startup Apollyon Dynamics has created India’s fastest interceptor drone Aahuti Mk-II. Its speed is 498 kilometers per hour, which has also been recorded by ‘India Book of Records’.

Jayant Khatri, founder of Apollyon Dynamics, posted on X that this drone has broken the old record of the speed of 325 kilometers per hour of its own prototype model.

Generally, drones are used for lifting goods or taking photographs, but Aahuti Mk-II has been designed to instantly shoot down enemy drones or missiles coming in the air.

Ahuti Mk-II will compete with Iran’s Shahed-136

Ahuti Mk-II will compete with the Shahed-136 drone used by Iran during the US-Iran war, which costs only about Rs 32 lakh and caused huge losses to America during the war.

According to the New York Times report, America had spent about ₹ 1.04 lakh crore in the first six days of the war, which had increased from about ₹ 2.31 lakh crore to ₹ 3.24 lakh crore by the beginning of April. Most of this was from interceptor missiles.

Planning to deal with advanced drones

The company says that in view of the changing methods of warfare, it has become very important to increase the speed of drones. In recent global conflicts, the use of cheap and dangerous drones like Shahed-16 has increased rapidly. The main function of ‘Aahuti Mk II’ is to get close to such enemy drones and destroy them immediately in the air.

Design changed 10 times, speed obtained from 400 ampere current

To give the Ahuti Mk-II drone a speed of 498kmph, major changes were made in its engine, motor and body, for which 10 different models were made.

This drone draws 400 amps of electrical power at a time, which gives it tremendous speed.

Earlier, the company had given drones with 300kmph speed to the army, which have been made faster after 8 months of hard work. However, the price of the drone has not been disclosed.

Tested in army range and more power at lower cost.

The company has tested this drone with the help of the Indian Army in Babina and Gopalpur firing ranges. Their main objective is to make weapons with more firepower at less cost, so that the country can get advanced technology without increasing the budget of the army.

Target to build heavy missile platform by 2032

The company does not want to be limited to just drones. Its target is to build a large cruise missile platform by 2032, which can carry thousands of kilos of explosives. Professor M Rama Manohara Babu, former director of Agni Missile Program, is guiding the company in this work.
