A private helicopter carrying six passengers en route to the Kedarnath shrine was forced to make an emergency landing on a highway in Guptkashi on Saturday due to a technical snag. So far, no injuries were reported, and all those on board are safe.
The helicopter belonged to Crystal Aviation and was flying from Sirsi to Kedarnath when the pilot detected a potential issue mid-air. As a precaution, the helicopter landed on a road in the Rudraprayag district, rather than continuing to the helipad.
Local officials confirmed that the emergency landing was precautionary and handled professionally by the pilot. The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) also issued a statement on the incident.
“The helicopter of Crystal Aviation Private Limited, while flying from Sirsi with passengers, made a precautionary landing on the road instead of the helipad,” said the CEO of UCADA. “There is no report of any casualty. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed.”
The incident caused brief disruption to local traffic in Guptkashi, but normal movement resumed shortly after the helicopter was cleared from the road.
Meanwhile, officials confirmed that all other helicopter shuttle services operating in the area are running as per schedule.
