Heavy Rains To Lash J&K, Himachal & Uttarakhand Over Next 3-4 Days, Red Alert Issued in Bihar | Weather Updates – News18


Heavy rains are likely to lash over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next 3-4 days, the weather office said in its latest release.  The monsoon is also likely to have an impact over Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh as well as over West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand.

Delhi’s primary weather station, Safdarjung, recorded 1.6 mm of rain in the last 24 hours until 8.30 am on Friday, the India Meteorological Department said.

Yellow Alert Sounded in 10 Districts of Himachal, Road Traffic Affected

The meteorological office in Himachal Pradesh on Friday issued a ‘yellow’ alert for heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning in isolated places in ten out districts of the state till August 6.

Meanwhile, light rains continued in parts of the state with Kasol recording the highest at 33 mm of rain followed by Seobagh, Hamirpur and Manali. The capital city, Shimla received light showers.

A total of 115 roads — 46 in Mandi, 38 in Kullu, 15 in Shimla, six each in kangra and Sirmaur, three in Kinnaur and one in Lahaul and Spiti — are closed for vehicular traffic following heavy rains in the state.

Rain-related incidents in the state have claimed 73 lives since the onset of monsoon on June 27 till August 1 and the state has also suffered losses to the tune of Rs 649 crore, according to the state’s Emergency Operation Centre

Red Alert Issued For Next 36 Hours in Bihar

The IMD on Friday issued a ‘red alert’ for extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning over the next 36 hours in nine districts of Bihar.

An ‘orange alert’ was also issued for districts like Arwal, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Jamui, Jehanabad, Kaimur, Katihar, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Munger, Nalanda, Nawada, Rohtas and Sheikhpura.

Weather Updates From Delhi on Friday

There were cloudy skies on Friday and Delhi-NCR as the IMD has forecast moderate rainfall in Delhi and Himachal Pradesh on Friday while very heavy rains were predicted for parts of Uttarakhand.
