On August 31, the Supreme Court will hear the PIL, in which the exact quantity or percentage of ethanol should be written on the nozzles and petrol bills of all the petrol pumps in the country. According to PTI, Justice M.M. Sundaresh and Justice Prasanna B. Varale’s bench will hear this case. This petition has been filed on behalf of Narendra Kumar Goswami. The quantity of ethanol will have to be written on the pump nozzle and petrol bill. In the petition, it has been requested to direct the Central Government and the concerned authorities that the percentage of ethanol blending should be clearly written on every dispensing nozzle of petrol pumps. Along with this, whenever a customer buys petrol, it must be written on the receipt he receives as to what percentage of ethanol is mixed in that fuel. Demand to create online compatibility database for vehicles The petitioner has demanded from the court that the government should create an official and public online database. This database should have the facility to search according to vehicle manufacturer, model, engine type and year of manufacture. With this, common citizens will be able to easily know whether their vehicle is compatible with E20 or other ethanol blends or not. Suggestion of expert committee to investigate the effect of E20 petrol. The petition also demands the formation of an independent expert committee. This committee should include: This committee will investigate the actual impact of E20 fuel on vehicles running on the roads and issue a public report.
