Hanuman Part has pulled off a remarkable turnaround at the box office. Nearly four weeks into its theatrical run, the film is now holding its ground against a much bigger pan-India release, Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups. What makes the feat even more striking is that Hanuman Part began its journey with barely any noise and very little indication of the run that lay ahead.
The film continued its strong fourth-week run on Day 27, earning Rs 7.25 crore nett in India. While that was lower than its Day 26 collection, it was still higher than Toxic’s Day 8 earnings of Rs 5.10 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
On its fourth Wednesday, Hanuman Part saw a 14.7 per cent drop from Tuesday, when it collected Rs 8.50 crore. It recorded 29 per cent occupancy on the day.
The latest numbers have taken the film’s India nett collection to Rs 61.38 crore, while its gross collection stands at Rs 72.32 crore. For a film that spent its first two weeks struggling to find an audience, its fourth-week performance is nothing short of extraordinary.
Hanuman Part opened in theatres on August 7 with just Rs 10 lakh. Its fortunes looked even bleaker when its daily earnings slipped to Rs 4 lakh at one point. There was little then to suggest that the film would go on to command sizeable footfalls weeks after its release.
But the tide turned on Day 17. The film suddenly jumped to Rs 2.20 crore, marking the beginning of a striking late run. From there, its collections began to climb steadily. Word of mouth appears to have worked in its favour, bringing more viewers to theatres long after the film’s opening phase.
Hanuman Part now outpaces Toxic
The film’s late surge has also put it in an unusual position. Hanuman Part is now earning more on individual days than Toxica large-scale pan-India film led by Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas.
Toxic earned Rs 5.10 crore nett on Wednesday. The figure is a steep fall from its opening day, when it collected more than Rs 100 crore. In contrast, Hanuman Part has travelled in the opposite direction – from a Rs 10 lakh opening to a fourth week in which it is still pulling in crores.
That reversal is what makes the film’s box office story particularly unusual. It is not simply a film that performed well after opening. It is one that appeared to be heading nowhere before finding an audience and building momentum weeks into its run.

Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Part was made on a reported budget of around Rs 1.8 crore. It stars Shobhinaw Satyaa as Neem Karoli Baba, while Purnima Tiwari plays his wife, Ram Beti Sharma.
The film is based on the life and legacy of Neeb Karoli Babapopularly known as Maharaj-ji. It follows a grieving boy who seeks God in the hope of connecting with his deceased mother. His journey eventually leads him towards devotion and service to humanity.
What started as a modest release with a modest opening has now become one of the year’s most unexpected box office stories, even beating Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster giant Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
