Aerospace and defense company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) reported a 77% year-on-year (YoY) profit to Rs 1,437 crore in the first quarter (April-June) of FY 2025. Net profit was Rs 814 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
After the result, the company’s stock fell by about 0.50% and is trading at Rs 4,670. HAL’s stock has given a return of about 140% in one year. It has fallen by 15% in one month. The company released its first quarter results today i.e. on 14th August.
HAL’s revenue increased by 11% to Rs 4,348 crore
The consolidated revenue from the company’s operations stood at Rs 4,348 crore. It has increased by 11% on an annual basis. In the same quarter a year ago, the company had generated a revenue of Rs 3,915 crore. The amount received from selling goods and services is called revenue.

In April, the company received an order to make Tejas aircraft
HAL has been in focus under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat thrust, which has helped the company secure manufacturing orders. In April this year, the company received an order from the Defence Ministry to manufacture 97 light combat aircraft (LCA Mk-1A) Tejas for the Indian Air Force, which will cost around Rs 67,000 crore.
The company manufactures aircraft for the military and civil markets
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is an aerospace and defense company owned by the Government of India. The company develops, designs, manufactures and supplies aircraft, helicopters, avionics and communications equipment for the military and civil markets.
It serves the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Navy, Defense Research and Development Organization, Indian Coast Guard, ISRO, Mauritius Police Force, Boeing and Airbus Industries. HAL is headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka.
HAL was formed by the merger of Hindustan Aircraft and Aeronautics India
Hindustan Aircraft Limited was founded in Bangalore on 23 December 1940 by Walchand Hirachand with the support of the then Mysore government. In March 1941, the Government of India became one of the shareholders in the company and later took over its management in 1942. In January 1951, the company was placed under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Meanwhile, in August 1963, Aeronautics India Limited (AIL) was formed as a wholly owned company of the Government of India to manufacture MiG-21 aircraft under licence. The two companies, Hindustan Aircraft Limited and Aeronautics India Limited, were merged on 1 October 1964 to form Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
