The Board of Control for Cricket in India has made changes in the schedule of the Indian Premier League 2026. Now the dates of the two matches between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings have been changed.
Actually, Municipal Corporation elections are going to be held in Gujarat, keeping this decision in mind so that there is no problem in organizing the matches.
Now the match of 26th April will be held in Chennai instead of Ahmedabad.
The match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings on April 26 will now be played in Chennai instead of Ahmedabad. Earlier this match was scheduled to be held at Narendra Modi Stadium, but now it will be held at M.A. Stadium in Chennai. Has been shifted to Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk).
However, no change has been made in the timing of the match. Like before, this match will be played at 3:30 pm only.
Second match will be held in Ahmedabad on 21st May
At the same time, the second match to be played between Chennai and Gujarat on 21st will be played in Ahmedabad instead of Chennai. This match will take place from 7:30 pm. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has confirmed this change by issuing an official statement.
Municipal corporation elections in Gujarat on 26th April
BCCI said that this change was necessary because municipal elections are to be held in many parts of Gujarat including Ahmedabad on 26 April 2026. Security arrangements and deployment of police forces are a big challenge during elections.
Thousands of fans gather for the match, in such a situation it would have been difficult for the administration to handle election duty and match security simultaneously. Keeping this in view, BCCI took this decision after discussion with Gujarat government and local administration.
