The country’s GST collection has increased by 14.8% on an annual basis to Rs 2 lakh crore in August 2026. Last year i.e. in August 2025, the total GST collection was recorded at Rs 1.74 lakh crore. However, if compared on month-on-month basis, the figure for August is less than that of July 2026 at ₹2.11 lakh crore. Compared to July, there has been a decline of about ₹ 11,147 crore in the revenue collection of August. GST collection shows the health of the economy. GST collection shows how healthy the country’s economy is. If the collection is high, it means that people are purchasing heavily, production in factories is increasing and people are paying taxes honestly. GST was implemented in 2017.
