India-Russia Ties
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently visited New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit hosted by India on September 12-13. On the sidelines of the summit, Putin and PM Modi held a bilateral meeting and discussed ways to bolster strategic ties.
India and Russia share a longstanding and cordial relationship, built on decades of robust diplomatic, defense, and economic cooperation.
Putin’s recent trip to India marked his first in-person attendance at a BRICS summit outside Russia since Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The visit itself reflected the deep strategic partnership between the two nations, rooted in mutual respect and longstanding trust.
