Google CEO Sundar Pichai spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (October 14). During this conversation, Pichai told PM Modi that his company will invest 15 billion dollars i.e. about Rs 1.33 lakh crore in India in the next five years.
Pichai shared this information in a post on social media platform X. While talking to PM Modi, Pichai also shared the plan of Google’s first AI hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Google has announced the launch of a large data center and Artificial Intelligence (AI) base in Visakhapatnam, which will be its largest AI hub outside the US.
AI will promote innovation and accelerate development across the country
Pichai described it as a historic step and said that this hub will connect gigawatt-scale computing capacity, a new international submarine cable gateway and large-scale energy infrastructure. He said, ‘Through this, we will bring our advanced technology to enterprises and users in India, promote AI innovation and accelerate development across the country.’

Partnered with Adani Group for AI Data Center Campus
Google has partnered with Adani Group for this AI data center campus. This is Google’s biggest investment in India so far. The company says that this initiative will support the ‘Developed India 2047’ vision of the Government of India, which aims to increase AI-powered services.
At a program organized for the signing of this agreement in Delhi, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said, ‘Visakhapatnam’s AI Hub is a milestone in India’s digital future. This will make AI infrastructure available on a large scale, which will enable businesses to innovate faster and create new opportunities for overall development.
In the program organized in Delhi to sign the agreement with Google, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu and state IT Minister Nara Lokesh were present.
Digital infrastructure will help fulfill ‘Bharat AI’ vision
Ashwini Vaishnav expressed gratitude for this investment of Google. He said, ‘This digital infrastructure will help in fulfilling our ‘Bharat AI’ vision. AI services are emerging as a new category in our digital economy. We will use this new facility to prepare our youth for AI services.
We are proud that Google’s first AI hub is being built in Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister Naidu described this as a new chapter in India’s digital transformation journey. He said, ‘We are proud that India’s first gigawatt-scale data center and Google’s first AI hub is being built in Andhra Pradesh. This reflects our commitment towards innovation, AI adoption and long-term support for businesses and startups in the state.
AI Hub will strengthen India’s digital economy
This announcement comes at a time when there is a race among tech giants to build data center infrastructure to meet the growing demand for AI services. Microsoft and Amazon have already invested billions of dollars in data centers in India.
India is expected to have more than 900 million internet users by the end of this year, making this investment even more important. This AI hub will not only strengthen India’s digital economy but will also help in creating millions of jobs and promoting tech innovation.
