GK: Thailand’s Bangkok Named Best City To Live For GenZ, Check Top 10

For Gen Z, choosing a city is more about affordability, excitement, and a welcoming atmosphere rather than merely having an address. This year, Bangkok, Thailand, ranks highest, followed by Melbourne and Cape Town in second and third place, respectively. The top 10 cities also feature Barcelona, Edinburgh, Mexico City, London, and Shanghai.

Based on survey data from 18,500 local participants, Bangkok is the top choice, with 84 per cent of Gen Z residents expressing happiness and 71 per cent finding it affordable. It’s also regarded as the easiest city on the list to make new friends.

“The Thai capital topped the ranks thanks to its stand-out scores in happiness (84 percent of Gen Z say they’re happy living there) and affordability (71 percent say it’s a budget-friendly city to live in). It’s also a great place to meet new people: Gen Z urbanites in Bangkok are the most likely bunch to say it’s easy to make friends in their city,” states the survey.

Bangkok is followed by Melbourne, which is known for its diversity (77 per cent), vibrant arts scene (96 per cent), and high quality of life, with 91 per cent of young people rating it as “good” or “amazing.”

Cape Town is third, with 82 per cent of residents happy. Gen Z values its beauty (71 per cent), affordable nightlife (76 per cent), and overall fun vibe (62 per cent). New York City scores high for excitement, walkability (82 per cent), and nightlife (84 per cent). Copenhagen which was recently voted as the “most liveable city” received a happiness rating of 64 per cent. While 54 per cent said it’s easy to find love.
